In the vanilla game I was able to shoot down every UFO without much trouble, but now the game is - unnecessarily - very frustrating.

(I could do without the save-scumming whenever a UFO has to be shot down, since this part of XCOM is not turn-based, but random-number dependent. So, after beating the base game (but not yet War of the Chosen), I have reverted to playing The Long War and I must say I am very impressed. There are less non-English languages to choose from, but more dialects of English. (All the cosmetic additions, like bikini outfits, face paint and piercings add little to the game.) Taking snapshots of the winning team, with dozens of poses to choose for each of member of the squad seems more targeted to the social media exhibitionism of younger generations, too. Most importantly, I have a mid-range laptop on which I play the games, and it struggled to run XCOM2. (The technobabble of XCOM2 failed to suspend my incredulity whereas the XCOM 'science' was less babble and more adjacent to rationality. Also, the voice acting includes a few of the cast from Star Trek TNG. the game is very short If you also purchase the War of the Chosen expansion (and a couple of extra missions which are not compatible with it, but can be added to the base game) the length of the game is extended. There are some minor improvements to the gameplay, like an initial stealth mechanic for the squad that allows them to ambush the aliens. JVagiar: I want to purchase one game only now which between of the two would you recommend me buying? Should I skip the older EU and purchase XCOM 2? Has XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack, aged well in 2020? I recently bought the new XCOM2 game.
